On Monday, October 14, 2019, the Supreme Court of Spain issued long prison sentences to nine Catalan independence leaders. They were accused for different crimes such as sedition, disobedience and embezzlement.

After knowing the sentences, thousands of citizens of all ages began to protest. These would last a total of 6 consecutive days among different parts of the Catalan city. Barcelona was immerced in peaceful concentrations as well as harsh clashes between protesters, Mossos de Squad (Autonomous Police of Catalonial) and National Police.

At the end of this week an approximate balance of 600 wounded and more than 150 arrests were registered.
