Matías Nicolás Chiofalo is a spanish resided documentary photographer, born in 1987, in Comodoro Rivadavia, a southern province of Argentina.
In 2013 he moved to Barcelona, where through the years, starts discovering photography as a passion, and begins a carrer as a self-taught photographer. His first years were very associated to chemical photography and many darkroom hours, with street photography and portraits as his main artistic activity.
His innate implication to social issues quickly became the central idea for his new passion, so he took a Social Documentary Photography course with Ruido Foto in Barcelona. During this course, he started working on his first project about the tough life of street musicians in Barcelona. Shortly after, he continued his work in his native land, where he finds himself during a tremendous flood that devastated his home town.
Nowadays, he is actively in the look for social projects, but also in daily news about social movements, the relation of man and the environment, and conflicts; in constant collaboration with agencies as Europa Press, published in La Vanguardia, El Pais, 20 Minutos, El Diario, La Voz de Galicia, El Ciudadano (Argentina), Página 7 (Chile), Crónica Balear y Última hora.
